The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is going to file a chargesheet on Today (25 August) in the infamous Pulwama terror bombing cases which killed at least 45 personnel of the Central Reserved Police Force (CRPF) in February 2019.

According to a Hindustan Times report, the agency is set to name Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) chief Maulana Masood Azhar, his brother Abdul Rauf Asghar along with many other commanders of the terrorist group in the case. The chargesheet also mentions the terrorists had acted at the behest of Pakistan Army and establishment.

The 5000-page-long chargesheet, that has been prepared after a thorough investigation led by deputy inspector general Sonia Narang and police superintendent Rakesh Balwal, will be filed before a special court in Jammu.

According to officials cited by HT, the investigation has found strong evidence -- technical, material and circumstantial evidence -- on Pakistan’s role in the attack. The chargesheet also carries enough evidence against the Jaish terrorists including some of their chats and call details.

One of the deadliest attacks on Indian security forces, the bombings were carried out after a local Kashmiri resident named Adil Ahmad Dar rammed an explosive-laden car into a CRPF convoy in Pulwama. The NIA probe has found out that a local Kashmiri was chosen for the task so that it could be projected as an act of local anger against Indian establishment in the region, officials cited by HT said.

The attacks had forced the two nations on the brink of a war after India, in a retaliatory move, launched air-strikes on several JeM launchpads in Pakistan's Balakot.
