The United States will make public its conclusions over the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi by early next week, President Donald Trump has said on Saturday (17 November), as reported by ET.

The statement has come after the report of CIA coming to a conclusion that Saudi Arabia's all powerful Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had himself ordered the killing of the Washington Post journalist who was a vocal critic of the former.

The State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert has said that the department will continue to search for facts and work with other countries to get hold of those involved in killing Jamal Khashoggi "while maintaining the important strategic relationship that the United States and Saudi Arabia share".

As the international uproar intensifies with Turkey alleging a brutal murder of the journalist on Kingdom’s behest, United States is finding it hard to stick with its long-time ally, Saudi Arabia and continue blaming ‘rogue-actors’ for the murder. The monarchy hasn’t been helping either by continuously changing its story.

The latest statement by Saudi prosecutor argued that the orders were only to abduct Khashoggi, however, after a spat with the extradition team, he was murdered by giving a lethal injection, a claim that counters the earlier version put forward by the Kingdom. He had further stated that the Prince had no idea about the murder which was ordered by an intelligence official, not him.

The developments have frayed ties between Washington and Riyadh, as latter has asked to end the discussion of the murder and rejected calls for an international investigation.
