RSS leader Chandrakant Sharma was attacked by terrorists earlier in the day (9 April) has now succumbed to his injuries, ANI has reported.

This announcement was made by BJP Spokesperson Sunil Sethi.

Sharma used to work at the district hospital in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district as a medical assistant. Sharma was flown to GMC in Jammu for treatment but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

His personal security officer (PSO) from the J&K police was earlier pronounced dead.

Protests have erupted in the area near the hospital following the killings. Sharma was reportedly involved in the anti-terror drive in the region and was helping eliminate terrorists from Doda.

Reports have claimed that a gunman barged into the district hospital and began shooting at the RSS leader and his security officer. Police officials were rushed to the spot in response.

Internet services have been disconnected and a curfew has been imposed in Kishtwar as a precautionary measure.

Similarly in November last year BJP state secretary Anil Parihar and his brother Ajit were also shot dead by terrorists.
