After Sanjay Jha openly came out in defence of Sachin Pilot over the ongoing political uncertainty in Rajasthan, the Congress on Tuesday (14 July) suspended him from the party for anti-party activities and breach of discipline, reports Indian Express.
Reminding the Congress party of Pilot's role in the party's resurgence in Rajasthan, Jha had said, "For five years Sachin Pilot gave his blood, tears, toil and sweat for the Congress party between 2013-18. The Congress came back from a wretched 21 seats to 100. We just gave him a performance bonus. We are so meritocratic. We are so transparent."
The suspension order was issued by Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC)'s president Balasaheb Thorat.
It should be noted that just until a few weeks ago, Jha was the official national spokesperson of the party. However, in June, the party had stripped him of the post over a newspaper article he had penned which critiqued party's present-day functioning.
Jha had also recently resigned as the president of the Maharashtra unit of All India Professionals Congress, saying that his political outspokenness conflicted with his official position.
