Akbaruddin Owaisi, controversial leader and brother of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi, has claimed that 11 people from all over India have arrived in Hyderabad to ‘kill’ him.
In a public meeting, Akbaruddin alleged that he had received ‘threat’ phone calls and letters from some people, who threatened to kill him , as reported by Deccan Chronicle.
"Again they are telling they will kill...I got letters and phone calls that Akbar Owaisi... we will kill you,” he says. He claimed that he has reports that 11 people from Banaras, Allahabad and Karnataka have arrived in the city to kill him.
The controversial Muslim leader, infamous for his hate speeches, is contesting from Chandrayangutta assembly constituency in Hyderabad for the 7 December assembly polls.
Recalling a 30 April, 2011 incident when he was roughed up by a group of people with weapons near the MIM office at Barkas, he said, "I was not killed despite being hit by three bullets. Will your bullets kill me?"
A senior police official, however, refuted the claims saying that they had not received any complaint regarding the issue. He reiterated that adequate security had been provided to candidates contesting the 7 December assembly elections.
