In the pursuance of its drive to wipe off the face of terror from the Kashmir Valley, the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in a joint operation yesterday (8 October) gunned down two terrorists in Awantipora, reports ANI.
Earlier in the day, the security forces had eliminated a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) affiliated terrorist named Ufaid Farooq Lone in the operation. Later on, the security forces also brought down his associated from Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM).
Lone was known to have been involved in a host of recent grenade attacks, apart from threatening and harassing local shopkeepers and fruit-growers over re-opening their shops and returning to their businesses post the abrogation of Article 370 and the bifurcation of the erstwhile State of J&K into two separate Union Territories.
The two terrorists have been brought down in an operation which was launched on Monday (7 October) evening. This marked the fourth such anti-terrorist operation since 28 September, aimed at sanitising the Valley.
