In a shocking development, a security guard of Delhi Government-run GTB Hospital was assaulted with a brick by a neighbour who had accused him of spreading COVID-19, reports Hindustan Times. GTB Hospital is among the designated COVID-19 hospitals in Delhi.

Severely injured in the head by the attack, 35-year-old Vijay Kumar received multiple stitches. He is now out of danger though and has been discharged from the hospital. It should be noted that Kumar has been serving at GTB Hospital for the last three years.

Kumar was attacked by a 24-year-old individual identified as Vikas. He has been booked by the Delhi Police on the charge of voluntarily causing hurt and wrongful restraint. The incident took place on the evening of Sunday (21 June) when Kumar was exercising at his residence's terrace before leaving for work.

It should be noted that not only Vikas, but five-six of his friends also barged into Kumar's house and attacked him.

Meanwhile, Vikas has denied the charge and has claimed that Kumar was leaning against his terrace's wall and was risking its safety. He asserts that when he called on Kumar to be careful, the latter threatened to get him infected with COVID-19 and admitted to the COVID ward of the hospital, following which the brawl broke out.
