Actor Deepika Padukone created a controversy few days back when she decided to visit JNU in solidarity with leftist protesters. This led many to question Padukone for being selective in condemning the violence which was also said to have been perpetrated by leftist goons.
During a recent event, Union Minister Smriti Irani was asked to comment on the matter and here is what she said.

Irani said that she would rather known Padukone’s political affiliations, ”anyone who read the news knew where Padukone would stand. People knew that she would stand with people who wanted destruction of India, who celebrate every time a CRPF jawan is killed”.
Irani added that Padukone stood alongside people accused of assaulting women but she can’t deny her the right. Irani also added that Padukone has been a Congress supporter since long.
