Union Minister Smriti Irani, has announced that she will construct a permanent residence in her parliamentary constituency Amethi, to be more accessible to the people, reports Zee News.
Smriti has already identified a plot for the same in the Gauriganj locality of Amethi.
As per the report, this will set her apart from Rahul Gandhi who had chosen not to construct a house but instead used to live in guest houses whenever he visited the constituency.
Rahul Gandhi was defeated by Irani in the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls by a margin of over 50,000 votes.
It can be recalled that Smriti Irani had given a shoulder to the funeral procession of BJP worker Surendra Singh, who was shot dead immediately after the general election in Amethi`s Barauliya village and met his family members, vowing to bring the killers under the law.
Yesterday (22 June), Irani saw an ailing woman while travelling in Amethi. Upon inquiry, she quickly learnt that the woman had met an accident and was unable to walk. The minister immediately called for an ambulance and personally helped the woman get into the ambulance and instructed the doctors to ensure proper treatment.
