Tej Pratap Yadav, elder son of Lalu Prasad Yadav, on Saturday (30 March) announced that he would be fielding his own candidate, Chandra Prakash, in Jehanabad of Bihar against the Rashtriya Janata Dal, indicating escalation of a war between him and his younger brother Tejashwi Yadav, reports India Today.

Tej Pratap and Tejashwi have reportedly been at loggerheads with each other since the last few days over choice of candidate for Jehanabad and Sheohar Lok Sabha seats.

According to the report, Tej Pratap has been demanding that two of his aides, Chandra Prakash and Angesh Singh, be given party ticket to contest from Jahanabad and Sheohar, respectively. However, the demand was rejected by Tejashwi on Friday (28 March) and Surendra Yadav was declared the party candidate from Jehanabad.

Angered over Tejashwi’s decision to field Surendra Yadav from Jehanabad, Tej Pratap declared that Chandra Prakash will be filing nomination from the Jehanabad as an independent candidate and that he will extend him support.

"I am very happy that Tej Pratap has supported my candidature as an Independent candidate from Jahanabad. He has assured me that he will campaign for me," said Chandra Prakash, Tej Pratap's candidate from Jahanabad, reported India Today.

As per the report, the candidate from Sheohar Lok Sabha seat was not yet announced as Tejashwi has put the announcement on hold due to differences with his brother.
