Mysuru railway station will soon get a swanky new look with better amenities after the foundation stone for the redevelopment of the station was laid by Lok Sabha Member of Parliament (MP) for Musuru-Kodagu Prathap Simha on Thursday (24 January), reports The New Indian Express.
The estimated cost of the redevelopment project will be around Rs 15 crore.
As per the reported plan, Rs 6.18 crore will be used for improving the circulating area so that vehicle can move freely. This will be done by expanding the 20 metre wide road.
Rs 2.24 crore will be spent for improvements at the second entry gate while Rs 2.21 crore will be used for the construction of full length shelter for all the platforms.
Additionally, Rs 2.2 crore will be spent on improving the waiting rooms and halls with upgraded amenities to meet the demands of passengers who either arrive early morning or late in the night.
Another 98 lakh will be spent on improving illumination at both the platforms and circulation area. Rs 66 lakh will be used for improving the face of the building while Rs 49 lakh would be spent to construction an executive lounge with modern amenities.
