South India is all set to become closer than ever before with ‘The land of the rising sun’, with two Japanese airlines looking to launch direct flights between Japan and the two major southern cities of Bengaluru and Chennai, reports The Hindu.

The flight route between Tokyo and Chennai will be started by All Nippon Airways in October, while on the other hand, Japan Airlines will provide direct air connectivity between Bengaluru and the Japanese capital beginning sometime next year, according to information provided by Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Japan in India.

India and Japan have close bilateral relations, with the two countries looking to improve economic cooperation. The Indian government has also been keen in recent years to attract greater numbers of Japanese tourists to the country by promoting Buddhist religious tourism.
