From 15 March (2019), Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) will launch 50 low-floor, air-conditioned and disabled-friendly feeder buses to provide last-mile transport to passengers across 16 new routes in Noida and Greater Noida, reports Press Trust of India (PTI).
“The NMRC will be running a fleet of 50 feeder buses which will be plying on these new routes from March 15 (Friday)," said NMRC Executive Director P D Upadhyay. “It is being done to cater to all the operational metro stations of the Aqua Line in Noida and Greater Noida,” he added.
According to other officials of NMRC, the new 16 routes for the feeder buses will replace the current 12 ones on which the buses operate around the Aqua Line of the metro rail between the twin cities.
“These routes will be covering almost all the metro stations of the Aqua Line and their nearby areas. It will immensely benefit commuters who have to rely on other modes of local transport to reach the nearest metro stations," added the NMRC.
Smart Buses
The organisation claims that these air-conditioned buses will be India's first "true low-floor" buses. They will also carry smart technology features like GPS, intelligent transport system, electronic ticketing machines, passenger information system, announcement and digital display, three CCTV cameras, panic button and accessibility for disabled people.
