Walmart, the parent company of the Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart has recently signed a pact for collaborating with Google for voice-based shopping. The move is being viewed as a counter to Amazon’s dominant voice-based-platform, Alexa.

The new voice-based shopping feature is already available in the US where Walmart customers can use google-assistant based devices, including Google Home or a Smartphone to buy groceries.

This feature is expected to soon reach the Indian online consumers on Flipkart, where consumers can use voice-based shopping to enhance their shopping experience while buying groceries.

The company is in the process of launching its online grocery shopping segment aggressively in new markets to complete its online shopping experience for its customers. It recently started its grocery shopping segment in Mumbai.

The Indian e-commerce market is projected to be worth $65 billion by 2023 a two leap jump from $29 billion in 2018.

The e-giant is competing with the likes of BigBasket, Grofers and Amazon India. Amazon India, for groceries, is number one in terms of units sold on its online portal.
