Sudeeksha Bhati Death Case: UP Govt Forms SIT As Family, Local Police Give Contradicting Accounts Of Accident

The Yogi Adityanath government has set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the death of a United States (US) student Sudiksha Bhati who died in a road mishap on Monday (10 August).

IG Pravin Kumar said that the SIT would be led by a circle officer and two inspectors.

The team will probe the circumstances that led to the girl’s death.

The victim who hails from Gautam Buddh Nagar district in UP and had come home due to Covid-19 pandemic, and was supposed to return to the US on 20 August. The 19-year-old was on her way to Bulandshahr on a two-wheeler when the accident took place.

Earlier on Tuesday, the district officials had claimed that it was a road accident and that Sudiksha was pillion riding the bike with her minor brother.

The victim’s father Jitendra Bhati however claimed that his daughter was being heckled by motorbike borne men that led to the accident.

She was studying at Babson College in Massachusetts in the US after having topped Bulandshahr district in her 12th board examinations two years back.
