Popular DTH operator Sun Direct has given its competitors like Tata Sky and Airtel Digital TV something to worry about as it has revised its network capacity fee terms by offering more channels while keeping the price unchanged.

As reported by Dream DTH, Sun Direct has announced that the Rs 130 network capacity fee (NCF) charged by default on every primary connection would be applicable for 155 channels, 55 more than the earlier figure of 100 channels.

The final amount for monthly NCF stands at Rs 153 inclusive of all taxes.

As per a notice dated 20 August, Sun Direct also reiterated that every HD channel’s weightage would be twice that of a SD channel. This means that a subscriber can avail 155 SD channels or 77 HD channels for Rs 153 NCF.

For every additional 25 SD channels the NCF would increase by Rs 20.

This news is expected to give jitters to other leading DTH operators like Tata Sky and Airtel Digital TV who still provide 100 SD channels for the NCF of Rs 153. It remains to be seen if these DTH operators also follows suit and increase the total channel available for the same NCF.
