According to a recent survey, while a third of the existing job roles across sectors will be automated over the next three years, technological convergence will also transform current job profiles and responsibilities to give rise to new job roles, reports Press Trust of India (PTI).
The survey, published by job portal Shine.com, took into account the views of HR professionals in sectors like IT, education and training, banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI), manufacturing, retail, auto among others.
“With a host of innovations and technological changes coming up and with cutting-edge technologies like AI and machine learning becoming more and more integral to business operations across sectors, the demand for professionals with evolved, tech-led skill-sets will only increase further in 2019,” Shine.com Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Zairus Master said.
Professionals with expertise in areas like data compliance and cybersecurity will be one of the most sought-after by companies over the next few years. Also, 36.75 per cent of respondents said that they expected some disruption in their industry in the next 2-3 years due to technological shifts.
“I also foresee organisations collaborating with reputed online learning platforms to undertake large-scale upskilling and reskilling of their in-house talent,” Master added.

Similarly, a recent survey by TeamLease predicted that Automation, AI and robotics will change workplace culture and skill requirements of the Indian IT industry. Machine learning, big data analytics and AI developers jobs will be among the highest paid among the new jobs added to the IT industry.
