Around 60 cadres of the AIADMK, among them Minister for Cooperation Sellur K Raju and MLA of Madurai North constituency V V Rajan Chellappa, were forced to stop campaigning in front of a mosque at K Pudur by members of the local congregation because of their party’s alliance with the BJP, reports TOI.

The group of AIADMK workers had gone to the area to campaign for their party’s candidate for the Madurai constituency, V V Raj Satyan.

The party workers even took permission from the jamath office for distributing notices and addressing persons visiting the mosque. Upon receiving permission, the AIADMK workers tried to hand out notices to people exiting the mosque.

A group of individuals who had come out of the mosque after prayers objected to the group’s activities there, telling them that they could not campaign in front of the mosque because their party was allied to the BJP.

After a failed to attempt to pacify the group of worshippers, the AIADMK group was forced to leave.
