Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president K Annamalai handed over a cheque of Rs 10 lakh to the wife of Army soldier Prabhu who died as a result of being brutally beaten up by DMK councillor Chinnaswamy and his associates after an argument had broken out between them regarding washing clothes at a water tank.
On 21 February, the BJP conducted a fast and a candlelight march in Chennai to condemn the attitude of the ruling DMK towards the death of army soldier Prabhu.
While the police had arrested all the accused in the case, issues like the DMK spokesperson TKS Elangovan calling it a ‘small thing’, and Chief Minister MK Stalin avoiding questions on the subject had drawn flak from the opposition.
Annamalai also said that the BJP would bear the entire cost of education of Prabhu’s daughters and be available to the family as a pillar of support.
