The Madras High Court today (5 July) ordered a recount of postal votes cast in the Tenkasi Assembly constituency during the 2021 Assembly elections after hearing a plea by the losing All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) candidate S Selva Mohandas Pandian.
The seat was won by S Palani Nadar of the Congress with a margin of 370 votes.
The District Collector would have to conduct the recount and announce the result within 10 days.
Further, the Court ordered the Election Officer to pay Rs 10000 as litigation expenses to the petitioner.
