India's leading DTH operator Tata Sky has announced that it will be sourcing most of its set-top-box components from Indian manufacturers, Business Today has reported.
Tata Sky which currently sources set-top-boxes from Thailand and Vietnam, has partnered with Technicolor to develop set-top-boxes which will be manufactured and distributed in India.
This manufacturing realignment is expected to take shape by early next year.
"As the world adjusts to the rapid changes emerging due to the recent effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, Tata Sky and Technicolor Connected Home are realigning production of a group of set-top boxes (STBs) to India by early 2021", MD and CEO of Tata Sky Harit Nagpal has been quoted as saying.
Tata Sky is still working on the percentage of its set-top-box demand which will be met by Made-In-India set-top-boxes. It is expected to reveal the location of its manufacturing plant in India in the coming days.
