The issues of terrorism, H-1B Visas, trade and situation arising out of the US sanctions on buying oil from Iran are expected to take centre stage during the meeting between External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar and United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Wednesday (26 June), reports Economic Times.
The US Secretary of State's visit marks the first high-level visit of any country following the Lok Sabha elections. This will also be the first meeting between both the leaders after Jaishankar assumed the office last month.
India is also expected to continue its pursuit to convince the US about its position on the S-400 missile defence deal with Russia.
Pompeo's visit is happening a couple of days before the G-20 Summit, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump will meet on the sidelines of the event. The summit will be held in Osaka in Japan on 28 and 29 June.
During the visit, Pompeo will also call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He will meet the Indian and US businessmen over a round table conference and deliver a policy speech at the India International Centre.
