Terrorist Group Afghan Taliban Shares Its Two Cents On India-Pakistan Situation; Calls For ‘De-Escalation’

The Afghan Taliban today (27 February) released a statement asserting that the present clashes between India and Pakistan would have an effect on the ongoing peace process for Afghanistan, as part of which the group’s leaders are currently holding talks with US officials in Doha, Qatar, reports Moneycontrol.com.

The group has asked for India to avoid a further violent escalation with Pakistan.

“The continuation of such conflict will affect the Afghanistan peace process,” said the statement by Taliban Spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid.

The current Afghan war has been going on for 17 years now, beginning with the US invasion in the aftermath of 9/11 which overthrew the Taliban regime.

The Taliban’s remarks come as hostilities between India and Pakistan have escalated since this morning when Pakistan Air Force (PAF) F-16 aircraft crossed the Line-of-Control (LoC) into Indian territory, after which they were pursued by Indian Air Force (IAF) jets pursued them back into Pakistani airspace.

Pakistan has been known to be a safe haven for Taliban fighters for many years, with its Intelligence and Military establishment being accused of secretly supporting the group against the internationally recognised government in Kabul.
