Some of the keenly watched fights in Maharashtra are: Baramati, where the sitting candidate and NCP Supremo Sharad Pawar's daughter is being challenged by BJP's Kanchan Kul.

Maval, where former Deputy CM Ajit Pawar's son Parth is looking to unseat Shiv Sena MP Shrirang Barne.

Shirur, where Shiv Sena rebel Amol Kolhe is looking to stop Shiv Sena MP Shivaji Adhalarao from achieving a hat-trick.

Ahmednagar, where family relationships seems to be edging past party loyalties as long-time NCP veteran Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil's son Sujay is fighting on a BJP ticket and NCP candidate Sangram Jagtap's father-in-law is an MLA from BJP who is said to have worked for his son-in-law's election. It is a prestige seat for both Pawar and Fadnavis.

Madha, a seat held by NCP supremo Sharad Pawar from 2009 to 2014, has been subject to lot of speculations. Pawar considered contesting this time and then backed out, causing PM Modi to remark that Pawar had recognised which way the winds were blowing. For now, NCP's Sanjay Shinde will contest against Congress rebel-turned BJP candidate Ranjitsinh Naik Nimbalkar.
