Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri, speaking at the Forum for Integrated National Security, said campuses throughout India have become breeding grounds for Naxalism and Maoism under left-leaning professors.
Professors and the establishment in some colleges, he says, are sympathetic to the left-wing cause and have influenced students to be a part of the ‘struggle’ that is against the fundamental interests of the country.
Talking about his experience of making and releasing a film on Naxalism, he said the left-wing ecosystem in various institutions such as Jawaharlal Nehru University and Jadavpur University resisted his attempts to show his film on campus.
Talking specifically about an incident at Jadavpur University, Agnihotri says the registrar of the institution prevented him from screening his movie on campus and said there is no place for an alternative narrative at Jadavpur.
He said the claims of the Indian left-wing about the lack of space for dissent in the country are false and added the left that has been intolerant to alternative narratives and ideas. Agnihotri also said that the mindset which the Indian left has been promoting is the biggest threat to the idea of India.
If the left is allowed to move forward with this agenda, Agnihotri said, Indian campuses will plunge into a civil war.
