After his re-election as the President of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), party supremo MK Stalin has asked his party members to maintain decorum at all times. He said that there are cameras watching them everywhere.

Stalin has been facing flak from the opposition All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) due to reasons like the anti-Hindu statements of DMK leader A Raja and the controversial comments on free bus travel for women by minister K Ponmudi.

In a speech made after A Raja's controversial comments on Hinduism, Stalin clarified that the DMK was not against any specific religion. Many saw that comment as a way to negate the damage created by A Raja.

Stalin compared his situation to that of a dholak (drum) that is being beaten on both sides because he is the Chief Minister as well as the party chief, thus, making him answerable for the acts of his party-men as well as the government.
