A case has been registered by police against three Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers for allegedly thrashing a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker, Pradeep Rane, in the Thane district of Maharashtra after they came across a WhatsApp post forwarded by the latter which they found offensive, reports Business Standard.

The post about the MNS also contained a picture of its party head Raj Thackeray. Rane said in his complaint that he deleted the post and also apologised to the three men, but they still proceeded to beat him and record a video of the attack. The video was also posted on social media by the accused.

The three accused persons have been booked under IPC sections 452 (trespassing into a house with preparation for assault), 323 (causing voluntary hurt), 504 (intentional insult with an intention to cause breach of peace) and 500 (defamation).

As of now, the police investigation is ongoing, but no one has been arrested.
