Religious euphoria marked the procession or yatra of the Pushpaka Vimanam, the chariot of Lord Vishnu, as part of the ongoing Navaratri Brahmotsavams organised at the temple town of Tirupati on Monday.
The processional deity of Lord Malayappa, the name of Lord Vishnu in Tirupati, flanked on either side by his two divine consorts - Sridevi and Bhoodevi - were carried out in a colourful procession around the Mada streets of the sacred shrine mounted atop a flower-bedecked palanquin.
The palanquin was decorated with varied hues of aromatic flowers and colourfully illuminated, befitting the grand occasion. Eminent florists from neighbouring states, who were commissioned for the purpose, toiled for more than 36 hours in fashioning the floral palanquin, as reported by The Hindu.
The Lord was prayed to by devotees on the Hanumantha Vahanam in the morning and the Gaja Vahanam in the night.
Illustrious vocalist, Ayaikudi Anantha Krishnan, and his team from Chennai captivated the devotees with their beautiful spiritual singing during the Nama Sankeerthanam programme organised at the Nada Neerajana Mandapam in front of the main temple complex during twilight.
