Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Ananth Kumar has announced that 400 lawmakers belonging to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will forego their 23 days’ salaries and allowances as a response to Congress not allowing the parliament to function, Hindustan Times has reported.
In a tweet targeting the Congress, the union minister squarely blamed the main opposition party for the parliamentary disruptions.
We, @BJP4India -NDA MPs have decided to forego salary & allowances for 23 days as #Parliament was not functional.

Salary is to be given only if we serve people through work.
Congress's undemocratic politics has made LS & RS non functional, inspite of our willingness to discuss
Taking into account the salary for 23 days, and other allowances enjoyed by the Members of Parliament (MPs), the amount being forgone by each MP is Rs 1.53 lakh reportedly.
The NDA MPs are protesting against the continuous disruptions of the second half of the Budget session by opposition parties and called the Congress’ stand undemocratic.
“The Congress is engaging in anti-democratic politics by stopping important bills from being passed, which is leading to criminal wastage of taxpayers’ money,” Kumar said.
This is notably the first time all the MPs of the ruling coalition will be foregoing their salaries for such a long period.
The Congress however has said that ruling NDA government is trying to run away from debates leading to the disruptions.
