President of the United States Donald Trump has said that he will cancel his maiden visit to London where he was to inaugurate the new US embassy. He tweeted out that he wouldn’t be going forward with his visit, criticising former President Barack Obama over the embassy’s shift.

However the decision to shift the embassy was taken by the George W Bush administration in 2008, reports the Wall Street Journal. Several options were considered in order to upgrade the embassy’s security and the final decision was to move it. The new embassy was funded by the sale of several properties owned by the United States in the United Kingdom.
