Twitter Says We Can Also Kick Out US President Donald Trump, He Enjoys No Immunity 

Twitter, the popular social networking website and micro-blogging service, said on Tuesday (4 September) that not even US President Donald Trump enjoys immunity from being debarred from the platform if his tweets are deemed as abusive behaviour.

Twitter legal and policy chief, Vijaya Gadde told POLITICO that no blanket exception exists for the US President or anyone else.

Trump, who is prolific on Twitter, often uses it to launch blistering attacks on his political opponents and media houses in the US including The New York Times, Washington Post andCNN, whom he regularly describes as “Fake News”.

Trump has also occasionally used Twitter to warn nations of military action and trade tariffs.

Trump tweeted last year warning North Korean leaders that if they persisted with their dangerous rhetoric at the time, "they won’t be around much longer!”

Last July, Trump put out a strongly word tweet about Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani:

Trump’s critics allege that several of his tweets are in violation of Twitter’s terms of service and have thus called for punitive action.

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey will be appearing before the Senate Intelligence Committee which is focusing on the foreign use of social media to interfere in US electoral process, and before the House to face allegations that Twitter has a structural bias against Right Wing conservatives and often censors them.

Dorsey also rejected the idea of regulating Twitter and other internet companies. He told POLITICO that atop-down regulation doesn’t make sense “as long as we’re transparent about what’s guiding our decisions and enforcement, that we show a willingness to evolve the rules as circumstances evolve.”
