‘Unnat’ Bharat Abhiyan: Over 800 Higher Educational Institutes Become Part Of Scheme To Commemorate Gandhi Jayanti

Marking the 150th Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, 840 new Higher Educational Institutes enrolled in Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) as a part of celebrations, reports PIB.

Unnat Bharat Abhiyan was launched to enable higher education institutions to work with the people of rural India in identifying developmental challenges and evolving appropriate solutions for accelerating sustainable growth.

688 institutes which were selected in the phase I are reported to be involved in various activities including field visits, house to house survey, identifying the felt needs of the rural masses, developing technology or process to improve their lives.

For the next phase, 840 Institutions have been selected and will be part of UBA 2.0. Out of these 840 Institutes, 521 were Technical Institutions, and 319 were Non-Technical Institutions.

Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, a flagship programme of Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) aims to enrich Rural India. The second edition of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan was launched in April 2018.
