Students who are unable to clear the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) will receive a second chance to pass the examination, from 2019 onwards, reports Indian Express.

CISCE secretary Gerry Arathoon said compartmental exams would be held for ISC applicants who are unable to pass in the fourth subject and ICSE student who fail to pass the fifth subject. These exams would be held at the same time, not long after the publication of results.

Arathoon was addressing members at the Association of Schools for the Indian School Certificate Conference in Kolkata on Friday (30 November). Students of Class 12, having passed in English and two different subjects however not in the fourth subject and Class 10 students, passing in English and three different subjects, yet failing in the fifth subject, won't need to squander one year under the new framework, he said.

Those students can sit for the supplementary test in June-July, Arathoon said. The results of the compartmental exam would then be able to be published by August to empower successful students to enrol for higher studies, said Arathoon, who is also the Chief Executive of CISCE.
