UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued special guidelines for the upcoming Bakrid festival, in view of the prevailing Covid situation.
He has directed that not more than 50 persons should collect at any spot at one time. He said that there should be no killing of prohibited animals such as cows and camels for performing any ritual.
He further directed that the place for 'qurbani' (sacrifice of animals) should not be a public place and only designated spots should be allowed for the ritual.
The Chief Minister also ordered that hygiene standards should be maintained at all places. Bakrid is slated to be celebrated on Wednesday.
Earlier, the yearly Kanwar Yatra was cancelled in Uttar Pradesh in view of the Covid-19 situation. Organisers of the yatra announced their decision to cancel the annual event this year too in the wake of looming threat of third wave of pandemic.
