The Uttar Pradesh government headed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has mandated that each local body create one attractive road and name it after former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, NDTV has reported.

The roads, which will be called ‘Atal Gaurav Path’, will also have several facilities for pedestrians, and should be maintained in top shape, the CM said. He tasked the local bodies with keeping drains perfectly maintained so that the roads appeared pleasing to those who used them.

In UP, there are 16 local bodies, 198 Nagar Palike Parishads, and 438 Nagar panchayats.

While reviewing schemes such as Namami Gange, Amrut Yojana, and Smart City Project, the CM said since many people from various parts of the world would be visiting the Kumbh Mela in Allahabad from 15 January to 4 March, 2019, the image of the state should be among the best.

The CM also stressed on the need for cleanliness in the Sangam area as only then, devotion would be felt in the minds of the people.

Adityanath also ordered the officials to ensure that from 15 December, no sewage or industrial effluents should be let out into the Ganga.
