Walmart Sets Eyes On Uttar Pradesh, Meets CM Yogi Adityanath To Discuss Investment Opportunities

A Walmart team met Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath to discuss investments in the state, Press Trust of India has reported. Walmart International CEO Judith McKenna, Walmart India CEO Krish Iyer and Flipkart Group chief executive Binny Bansal were part of the Walmart team that met the UP Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister spoke about agriculture sourcing, food processing industry and one district-one product scheme to promote traditional industries at the meeting with Walmart team. The Walmart team apprised the CM of its initiatives like cash and carry stores and PhonePe app for digital payments.

The team also spoke about helping small sellers access the market and partnering with the UP government in its ‘one-district one-product’ scheme. The company has signed an agreement with the state government to set up five stores in the next few years. Walmart’s ‘Best Price’ outlets will come up in Kanpur, Moradabad, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Saharanpur, Lucknow and Ghaziabad.
