A minor, son of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader was shot dead by a group of close to 25 people in Uttar Pradesh (UP)'s Basoli village in Baghpat district, reports Asian News International (ANI).
The development took over an argument on the issue of grinding of grains. As per Superintendent of Police (SP) Pratap Gopendra Yadav, some villagers had ended up in an escalated argument with the boy's family. They had called in more people from outside, close to two dozens in number, who ended up shooting the boy aged about 15-16 years old.
SP Yadav also revealed that after the shooting took place, several villagers assembled on the spot. After the assailants opened fire at the villagers as well, two of them were beaten to death by the villagers. The police administration has already registered an FIR over the incident and has promised strict action.
The minor's father Padam also holds the charge of the Baghpat district's backward class unit. He said, "They had earlier injured my uncle's sons and today they killed my son. The assailants were from nearby villages, we need justice from the administration."
