Uttar Pradesh (UP)'s Director General of Police (DGP) Hitesh Chandra Awasthi has put the entire State's top police brass on high alert, raising alarm following the arrest of an ISIS operative in Delhi with possession of two improvised explosive devices (IEDs), reports Economic Times.
DGP Awasthi has asked all police officials, especially those on field postings to stay alert and take all necessary precautions to deter any possibility of terrorist attacks in the State.
This comes after it was learnt that the arrested ISIS terrorist identified as Abdul Yusuf Khan hails from the State.
Khan was arrested after a police team received inputs about his suspected movements in the ridge area between Delhi's Dhaula Kuan and Karol Bagh. Based on inputs received, the Delhi Police's special cell laid a trap. Upon being nabbed, apart from the two IEDs, the Delhi Police also seized a gun from the possession of Khan.
It is believed that Yusuf has some other companions in Delhi who were helping him carry out the possible attacks in the national capital. Delhi Police has jumped into action to find such identities and deter any nefarious plans.
