The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has decided to postpone the Civil services preliminary examination due to the novel coronavirus outbreak in the country.
The new date of the examination, originally slated to be conducted on 31st May, will be announced by the commission on 20 May after assessment of the situation.
Last month, the UPSC said that the dates for the Civil Services-2020 (Prelim), Engineering Services (Main), and the Geologist Services (Main) Examinations had already been announced. Any rescheduling in these examinations, if necessitated by the evolving situation, will be notified on the website of the UPSC, the commission said.
It should be noted that the UPSC Civil Services Personality Exam 2019 has been postponed by the Union Public Service Commission due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The new dates for the personality tests have not been released as of now but it is expected to be out at the earliest.
The UPSC Civil Services Examination is conducted for recruitment to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and other central services and posts in accordance with the rules published by the Department of Personnel and Training in the Gazette of India extraordinary.
