Uttar Pradesh Government Approves 15 KM Metro Line Connecting Noida Sector 71-Greater Noida West

The proposed 15 km metro link connecting Noida’s sector 71 with Greater Noida west’s sector Knowledge park V was approved by the Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday (4 November), Hindustan Times has reported.

According to the report, the details of the project such as starting date and deadline are yet to be finalised. The project will be executed in two phases with the first phase connecting Noida to sector 2 of Greater Noida West.

The project was approved during a board meeting chaired by Uttar Pradesh chief secretary Anup Chandra Pandey. Chief executive officers of both Noida Authority (NA) and Greater Noida authority (GNA) attended the meeting.

Pandey, who also heads the GNA, directed NA and GNA to immediately start work on the project.

As per the report, Both the authorities will be responsible for the funding of the project in their respective jurisdiction along with assistance from state and central government.

The work on the metro link, which was approved in 2016, could not be started due to lack of fund with the authorities and concerns about the economic viability of the project.

However, a growing number of apartments in Greater Noida led to the project getting a push, ultimately resulting in approval of the metro link in the board meeting.
