The tableau of Uttar Pradesh state depicting a replica of Ayodhya Ram Mandir, a glimpse of ‘Deepotsav’ and several tales from the Ramayana which was exhibited in this year’s Republic Day parade has won the first prize, said a statement released by the Ministry of Defence.

Uttar Pradesh was adjudged the best tableau among the 32 tableaux which include 17 from States and Union Territories (UTs), nine from various Ministries/Departments and Paramilitary Forces and six from Ministry of Defence.

Minister of State (MoS) for Youth Affairs & Sports (I/C) Kiren Rijiju gave away the award on Thursday (28 January).

The tableau was decorated with a sitting model of Maharishi Valmiki placed at the front and the temple’s model was positioned towards the back end of the illustration.

The tableau includes numerous iconic accounts from the Ramayana. This includes the earthen lamp celebrations of Diwali in Ayodhya, murals displaying Lord Ram embracing Nishadraj, Lord Hanuman fetching the ‘sanjeevani’ during the war of Lanka, Ashok Vatika and also the conversation between Lord Ram and Jatayu.

Later on Tuesday (26 January), the Ram Mandir tableau too had faced the ire of protesters amid the violence in Delhi during tractor rally.

It was reported by Aajtak that the dome of the Ram Mandir tableau by Uttar Pradesh and Kedarnath temple of Uttarakhand were specifically targeted by the protesters.

“This is the Ram Mandir tableau. It had come in proper condition. The protesters who had come yesterday specifically targeted the Kedarnath temple and dome at Ram Mandir,” a Delhi Police personnel told Aajtak reporter.
