Uttarakhand Police Rescue 622 Missing Persons Including 315 Children Under Two-Month Long ‘Operation Smile’

In a major success for the Uttarakhand Police, the force has rescued as many as 315 children, 100 men and 207 women under the ongoing Operation Smile and Operation Identification, reports Asian News International (ANI).

The major achievement was made public on Tuesday (11 February) by the Uttarakhand police in a statement.

The police informed that of the total 622 persons rescued, 621 had been handed over back to their families while one had been sent to the Child Protection Home for rehabilitation.

Apart from these, under the ‘Operation Identification’, the state police also carried out the identification of 24 unidentified bodies. Of these, 17 deceases persons were found to be belonging to Uttarakhand while the rest of the seven dead bodies belonged to other states.

The operations had been launched by the Police on 1 December 2019 to find missing children, men and women and to hand them over to their families, said Ashok Kumar, Director General (ADG), law and crime.
