In yet another incident of robbery in the valley, terrorists looted Rs 11 lakh from Jammu and Kashmir Bank's Ratnipora branch in Pulwama district on Thursday.

According to the superintendent of Police Rayees Bhat, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) is responsible for the recent bank robberies in Kashmir. “We have identified the militants. Two of them are Pakistani militants while two others are locals,” Bhat said.

This is the third bank in Jammu and Kashmir which has been looted since the announcement of demonetisation on 8 November. It is also the second bank robbery within a week in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, which has been the epicentre of the ongoing unrest in the Valley.

A similar incident had taken place earlier on 8 December when unidentified men targeted the same bank's branch in Pulwama, looting Rs. 13.38 lakh. On 23 November, unidentified gunmen had looted over Rs 34 lakh from a Jammu and Kashmir Bank branch in Kishtwar district.
