Vistara Sends Two Senior Executives To Personally Apologise To Maj Gen G D Bakshi For Deleting Tweet Honouring Him

After being caught in a Twitter controversy for deleting a tweet honouring Major Major General G D Bakshi, Vistara Airlines on Monday (22 April) flew down two of its senior executives to express regret to the decorated Army veteran.

“It was very nice of Vistara airlines to send two senior Officials to my house to tender an apology over the Tweeting incident. It was a thoughtful gesture of consideration for the feelings of an Old soldier,” said the Major General in a blog post on Facebook.

The incident took place on Sunday (21 April) when the premium Indian Airliner Vistara deleted a tweet it had posted on Friday (19 April) expressing delight over having the honour to fly Bakshi.

However, some Indian ‘liberals’ and journalists condemned the tweet and even went to the extent to vow that they would never fly the airline again.

While the overwhelming majority of social media users praised the airline for its gesture, it appeared to have buckled under the pressure exerted by the aforementioned forces and deleted the tweet.

Apology Accepted

"I was very happy to see that Indian airlines have started emulating their American counterparts by honouring serving and retired soldiers on their aircraft." noted the Major General.

"A simple sorry ends the matter as far as Vistara is concerned," he added.
