A mob belonging to DYFI, the student wing of CPM on Tuesday (24 December) attacked the convoy of Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa in broad daylight in Kannur.

In the video the DYFI goons can be seen stopping Yediyurappa’s convoy and then hitting the vehicles with large sticks. The drivers of the vehicles then had to swiftly evade the goons in order to ensure the Chief Minister’s safety.

The sudden attack on two cars of the convoy forced Yediyurappa to cut short his two-day visit to the neighbouring state and return to Bengaluru safely by Tuesday evening.

A dozen activists of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) ran to the middle of the road and blocked the convoy from proceeding to Rajarajeshwara temple at Thaliparamba. Waving black flags and shouting "go back, go back", the activists hit the two cars with sticks and other objects.

The Kerala government has been accused of security lapses in light of this incident.
