Oilfields and accompanying processing facilities belonging to the Saudi oil major Aramco were attacked by drones earlier today (14 September) leaving behind huge fires and a trail of destruction, The Hindu reports.
While no group has claimed responsibility for the attack it is being speculated that Houthi factions from the neighbouring Yemen might be behind the attack.

The Saudi interior ministry has said that the processing plant in Buqyaq and the Khurais oil field were ‘targeted by drones’ in a statement on the matter. Aramco, however, is still to release a statement.
The facility that can process upto 7 million barrels of oil per day has earlier been the target of Al-Queda militants who had tried to carry out suicide attacks on the facility in 2006.
