Watch: Indian Navy Carries Out Submarine Rescue Drill Using Brand New Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle

The Indian Navy has Wednesday (5 June) conducted its first full submarine rescue drill using its new Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle (DSRV). This rescue drill was carried out on a submerged Kilo-class submarine INS Sindhudhvaj off India’s eastern coast.

The rescue drill included transferring stranded personnel from the submarine into the DSRV so that they could be transported to safety. The entire rescue process was carried out by an all Indian crew. This live mating exercise is expected to pave the way for the DSRV’s complete integration into the Indian Navy.
