At 830 feet, the Jog Falls in Karnataka’s Sagara taluk is considered the tallest waterfall in the country. Lying on the Sharavathi river, this fall is now flowing in all its glory after water was released from upstream Linganamakki reservoir on Tuesday (14 August).

As per a report in The Hindu, this reservoir was reaching its full capacity due to heavy rains in the state. The media outlet also shared a video of the fall:

As per a Deccan Herald report, for the first time in four years, nine out of the eleven gates of Linganamakki reservoir were opened to release 22,000 cusecs of water. This release of water from the reservoir also makes for splendid viewing:

Jog Falls is a very popular tourist destination which saw a total of 1.63 lakh tourists visiting from June to July. As a result, the Jog Management Authority (JMA) earned Rs 16.39 lakh in the form of an entry fee. The number of tourists is expected to go up further in August.
