Amidst the ongoing tussle between Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal, the incumbent state government led by Mamata Banerjee denied Yogi Adityanath’s chopper to land at Balurghat.
“This is the result of Adityanath’s popularity that Mamata Banerjee has not even allowed us to land the chopper,” said Mritunjay Kumar, Information Advisor to Yogi Adityanath.
As per sources reported by Indian Express, Adityanath will address his rallies through teleconferencing. Meanwhile, BJP workers protested outside the South Dinajpur district magistrate’s house over the denial of permission.
These rallies were a part of BJP’s 200 public meetings in the state by February 8 to pump up its electoral prospects ahead of the upcoming General Elections.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his West-Bengal campaign by addressing two rallies in Durgapur and Thakurnagar. Modi took a jibe at the state government and said “TMC doesn’t take an interest in initiating development projects where there is no share for the syndicate…where there is no ‘malai’ (cream).”
