Rocking Mehbooba Mufti’s PDP hard in its home turf, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday (17 April) inducted several former PDP leaders from Ladakh region into the party, reports Times of India.
PDP's Leh district president Tashi Gyalson along with almost the entire Leh unit of PDP joined the BJP at its Jammu headquarters. The list includes women wing president and nominated councillor Rinchen Lhamo, vice president Tsewang Dorjay Onpo, zonal president Nubra Capt Phunstong, general secretary Sangay Dorjay and executive members Tundup and Phuntsog.
This development is expected to strengthen the party's reach and understanding at the grassroots level in the region in which its candidate won by mere margin of 36 votes. The Ladakh constituency goes to polls on 6 May 2019.
The new members were wlecomed into the party by BJP's candidate for Ladakh parliamentary constituency Jamyang Tsering Namgyal. Namgyal also holds the post of chairman and chief executive councillor of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Couuncil (LAHDC).
Mehbooba Mufti has been viciously attacking the BJP and Narendra Modi led Central Government in recent days and also fanning separatist sentiments.
